The New Zealand Curriculum
Kia ora and welcome to the Ministry of Education website for the New Zealand Curriculum.
What's new?
This month's digital story features Clevedon School, who explain that the most important shift they have made has been to empower students to take charge of their own learning and the real changes staff have made in adopting this approach.
You can now download all 12 school stories to use in staff meetings.
This month's regional story provides a "slice of action" from Auckland. Team Solutions' leadership and management facilitators and the principal and staff from Kelston Girls' College highlight the need to integrate the elements of The New Zealand Curriculum coherently.
New support material is available for Mathematics and Statistics in The New Zealand Curriculum via the NZC resource bank. It links to achievement objective descriptors for levels 1-4, and other second tier material. Level 5 and 6 material will be available by the end of 2008.
A four minute video walk through is available to provide an introduction to this site.
Telephone "website walk-throughs" are also available. To book a walk-through please email Jane on jane.nicholls@core-ed.net

The new curriculum was launched on 6 November 2007 following one of the most comprehensive consultation processes undertaken by the Ministry of Education.
The challenge now is to build on this framework, offering our young people the most effective and engaging teaching possible and supporting them to achieve to the highest of standards.
