Tāiki E!

Ngā Tini a Tangaroa

Tāiki E! cover.

I hoki atu anō a Kete Kīwei ki te tipi haere i Te Waipounamu i ngā rā o te kirihimete. I whai atu anō ōna hoa a Ngāmotu rāua ko tana taina a Urukaraka. Ka whakahoahoa rāua ki a Wirihana rāua ko tana taina a James. Kāore kē he painga ki a rātou te haere ki te kerikeri tuangi, te hopu kōura, me te ruku pāua. Nā rātou, kāore rā i matekai te whānau.

Tāiki E! is a take-home magazine for 7- to 10-year-old learners of te reo Māori. This issue features two brothers, who travel with Kete Kīwei on their first trip to Te Waipounamu. Starting at Anakiwa, they head towards Kaikōura, meeting up with brothers Wirihana and James, who show them where the fattest cockles are, where to set crayfish pots, and how to hold live crayfish and cook them. They dive for pāua with their fathers on the beach below Mangamaunu Marae. The activity pages show the different kaimoana gathered by the boys.
