Towards Full Registration: A Support Kit
Towards Full Registration offers a set of working guidelines for providing programmes of advice and support that will help beginning teachers to become accomplished practitioners who can make a difference for learners.
The 2006 Towards Full Registration: A Support Kit updates the 2004 joint publication by the Ministry of Education and the New Zealand Teachers Council. It reflects the following two key changes in regulations since the publication of the earlier resource.
- The strategic plan for early childhood education now requires all teacher-led early childhood services to phase in the registration of their staff and to complete this process by 2012.
- From the beginning of 2006, as a result of agreement with Te Rūnanga Nui o Ngā Kura Kaupapa Māori o Aotearoa, the previous exemption of kura kaupapa Māori teachers from compulsory registration requirements has been ended. From this date, the registration requirements for kura are identical to those for schools.
The resource includes new material to support early childhood services and kura in implementing the changed regulations.
Distribution
Copies of the kit are being distributed in term 1 to early childhood services and to schools on the basis of teacher numbers. Item 31332.
