The Secondary Tertiary Alignment Resource: STAR
The handbook STAR: A Guide to the Secondary Tertiary Alignment Resource and the DVD STAR: Stories of Success are intended to support STAR co-ordinators and principals who are responsible for operating STAR in schools. The information in the handbook and DVD will also be of interest and value to others who are involved STAR programmes, including school staff, parents, and external providers.
The handbook outlines the purpose of STAR and the roles of the key people involved in administering the funding in schools. It offers suggestions for developing STAR policy and delivering and administering STAR programmes, advice on best practice for providers, and appendices that include further information and support. The text also contains real examples that suggest ways in which STAR can be used effectively and refers to sample documents and templates being made available on the Ministry of Education website.
The DVD includes a range of sections and best-practice case study material from a range of school types and settings. The DVD vividly captures the enthusiastic response of individual students to the educational and career opportunities the STAR opened up for them.
Distribution
In April/May, one reference copy of this resource will be directly distributed to each STAR co-ordinator and a further copy will be mailed to each school that receives STAR funding. External providers will receive a reference copy. Kit – item 31433.
