He Papahuia Toi Māori: Māori Visual Culture in Visual Arts Education Years 1–6
This resource for teachers of students in years 1–6 is a companion to He Wakahuia Toi Māori: Māori Visual Culture in Visual Arts Education Years 7–10. It will be distributed in term 2. It aims to give teachers the confidence to teach about Māori visual culture in their classes. It contains suggestions for teaching as well as background information on customary and contemporary Māori visual culture.
The six units contained in the book offer opportunities to explore Māori visual culture within a range of media and art forms. The three posters provide support for the units of work. The two resources on Māori visual culture are similar in format to Pasifika Visual Arts: A Resource for Teachers of Years 7–10.
