School Journal Centenary activities
To mark the centenary of the School Journal in May 2007, the Ministry of Education and Learning Media are co-publishing the book A Nest of Singing Birds: 100 years of the New Zealand School Journal, written by award-winning poet, anthologist, and art writer Gregory O’Brien.
Concurrently with the release of this book, an exhibition of the same name will open at the National Library Gallery in Wellington. The exhibition will be presented by the National Library of New Zealand and Archives New Zealand, in conjunction with the Ministry of Education and Learning Media, and will run from 20 April to 22 July 2007.
Both the book and the exhibition will celebrate, in words and images, this publication that, over the last hundred years, has influenced the country we live in.
Every New Zealand school will receive a copy of the book.
