In Janice Marriott’s story “Dog Magic”, Bunsen the dog learns a successful trick from a wise cat. This story depicts the world from a dog’s point of view.

Philippa Werry’s poem “Sandy Song” lists the qualities of sand and evokes the sensations of a day at the beach.

In the comic strip “At the Okitu Store”, Barbara Walsh records the busy social life at the local East Coast store. Illustrations by Andrew Burdan convey the scene.
