Enabling the 21st Century Learner
Enabling the 21st Century Learner: An e-Learning Action Plan for Schools 2006–10 outlines key e-learning outcomes for the next four years and the actions necessary to achieve these outcomes. It also outlines the projects, tools, and resources that are being developed to support schools in this area.
The 2006–10 action plan builds on the Ministry of Education’s previous strategy documents: Interactive Education (1998) and Digital Horizons (2002). Much has been achieved on the basis of these earlier plans, and more can be gained through a shared commitment to enabling all twenty-first century learners.
The plan describes how school-focused initiatives fit in with the digital and ICT strategies co-ordinated and supported by the Government. The plan also identifies the work of other key agencies in this area, particularly the National Library of New Zealand: Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa.
Enabling the 21st Century Learner suggests how e-learning can contribute to the priorities of the Schooling Strategy for the next five years, namely that:
- all students experience effective teaching;
- children’s learning is nurtured by families and whānau;
- evidence-based practices are used by all those involved in schooling.
