New magazine for rangatahi – Haumi E!
He mōhini tēnei mō te hunga rangatahi. He kai reka, he mōkarakara, he wainene e! Kua wherawhera nei ngā whetū o te ao Māori, otirā o te Moananui a Kiwa. Arā, a Rico rāua ko Hosea Gear, ngā toa whutupōro. Ko wai hoki a Juse? He kaitoi karafiti atu ki Pōneke. E whā ngā whakataetae kia whiwhi ngā paraihe mīharo.
Haumi E!, a magazine wholly in te reo Māori for teenagers in Māori-medium education, sets out to be entertaining, informative, and educational. Twenty-four pages of articles will feature many rising stars of the Māori and Pacific communities, their wider whānau, important influences in their lives, and what matters most to them. Regular features will include:
- a political page
- vox pop
- reviews of CDs, movies, and bands
- a comic page
- health and beauty ideas
- an editor’s page
- a cover story
- a centrefold poster of whoever features in the cover-story
- a calendar of upcoming events
- news about kapa haka.
Stories will feature: sports; music; the performing, visual, and literary arts; and much, much more.

Distribution
In term 3, copies of Haumi E! are being distributed to M?ori-medium schools with secondary classes with numbers based on the level of immersion. Schools wishing to receive additional copies free on request should contact Huia Te Manu Tuku Kōrero.
