Junior Journal 34

Junior Journal 34 cover.

Junior Journal 34 focuses on a sense of place. Most of the items in this Journal have been chosen to introduce readers to special places in our New Zealand landscape.

In “Moonwalking” by Margo Bremford, a grandfather introduces the thermal area near Lake Taupo to his grandchildren.

Pamela Kessler’s poem “The Raft” describes a small fishing raft stranded on the beach at sunset.

In Rosemary McGregor’s “No Home for a Gnome”, a family move to a new house and discover that they may have to share it with one of its previous inhabitants.

"Tunnel Beach", a favourite spot on the Otago coast, is described by Bronwyn Tainui. Darryl Howard’s stunning photographs give readers a great view of the place.

Rosemary McGregor reflects well the majesty of Milford in her poem “The Road to Milford Sound”.

Janice Marriott’s play “Big City Noises” brings readers to the hustle and bustle of Auckland, where Uncle Shane and his guide dog find the going a bit rough.

There’s a reference map of New Zealand on the inside back cover. This Junior Journal is suitable for guided reading at the Purple level.

Item 11041.
