Where does Parliament fit in New Zealand's system of government?

ABC Grid

In pairs or small groups students ask each other to explain what is stated in, for example, B2. So Student One will ask Student Two to explain B2. After Student Two has done that, s/he asks Student Four to explain, for example, C1. And the group takes turns at explaining each statement until they have completed the grid. They can then read the full text and write their own summary of the information.

1Parliament is not the same as government. But New Zealand has a Parliamentary system of government. The Governor-General calls Parliament to meet, approves laws, and orders elections to take place. One of Parliament's responsibilities is managing the finances (e.g. taxation).
2If the Government loses the confidence of the House of Representatives on major issues it might have to resign.Responsible government is the Government having the confidence of the House of Representatives. The House of Representatives is made up of the elected Members of Parliament.
3One of Parliament's responsibilities is reviewing the work of government. The elected members of the House of Representatives are usually known as Members of Parliament or MPs.Parliament consists of the Queen and the House of Representatives.
4Members of the House of Representatives are elected every three years. In order to remain in office a Government must avoid defeat in Parliament on important matters like the Budget. The Government is appointed by the Governor-General.
5The Governor-General represents the Queen, who is the Queen of New Zealand, as well as other countries in the Commonwealth. One of Parliament's responsibilities is making laws.Members of Parliament are elected by voters at a General Election.
