Draw like an Egyptian.
Learn the techniques associated with
drawing
like an Egyptian.
Use the knowledge gained to draw Egyptian portraits.
Make a Cartouche
Use modeling clay or plasticene to make a clay tablet.
Use the tip of a pencil to carve out symbols or hieroglyphics.
It could be a code or your name. Make a hole to tie a piece of string
through. Allow to dry. Paint and hang up.
Make an ostrich fan
Materials needed:
- Thick cardboard
- Scissors
- Pencil & ruler
- Paints
- Glue
- Feathers [turkey] If you can't find feathers make cardboard feathers.
- Decorations [glitter, fluffy trim, sequins etc.
- Long handles e.g. broom handle.
- Cut a semicircle with a diameter of 20 cm. Tape to the handle.
- Attach feathers to the circular part of the semicircle and glue in place.
- Decorate fan.
Scrolls
Soak white paper in a weak solution of tea.
Allow to dry. Paint hieroglyphics on to the paper and then roll up. Swap
scrolls with a friend and see if you can read their message.
Amulets and Necklaces
Look carefully at different types of amulets, necklaces and jewelled collars
shown in pictures. Design your own version. Make and display your jewellery.
