Produce sets of cards so students can work in groups of 2-3. Photocopy on to coloured card and laminate.

The Treaty is the founding document for the whole of New Zealand society. Forget the Treaty of Waitangi - we need something for all New Zealanders today.
At least we had a Treaty - unlike the robbery of the Aboriginal lands in Australia. I wish the Treaty or Waitangi had never been signed. It causes too many problems for New Zealanders.
The Treaty of Waitangi is so confusing to understand. I would have to be a lawyer to know whether or not Maori have been wrongly treated. We are unique in the whole world to have a Treaty that was signed with the indigenous people that set rules for both sides to be dealt with fairly. It is sad how often the principles of the Treaty have been broken.
A chief in my family signed the Treaty - some criticize him, but I think he was a visionary. He knew that working together was going to get further than working against each other. The Treaty of Waitangi has been a helpful part of the history of our nation, but we need to come up with something new to move us into the 21st century.
