Patching up the past in Taranaki

Learning outcomes:
A student achieving the assessment will:
Student will:
  1. be able to explain how past events in Taranaki and violations of the Treaty of Waitangi, influenced relationships between Maori and European in the last century.


  1. List the facts about Treaty grievances in Taranaki and describe the feelings this caused Maori and how it impacted on their relationships with Pakeha-European.
  1. Be able to identify some solutions for Maori and Pakeha-European when addressing Treaty grievances of the past and some consequences of these actions.
  1. Identify three solutions/ideas for Maori and Pakeha-European suggesting how to proceed from here and a range of positive and negative consequences of these ideas.
