Organise the class into small groups of 3-4 students.
Each group is given a specific area (New Zealand, Australia, California) to
research using the Research Cycle
model.
The Inquiry must focus on:
- Reasons why Chinese moved to the gold fields of New Zealand, Australia,
and California;
- Life on the goldfields for the Chinese miners;
- Treatment of the Chinese miners by Europeans.
Each group will present their findings on A3 sheets of paper as a four panel
Wall Montage. Each panel will include a balance of text and visuals with
supporting evidence such as statistics, graphs, maps. The completed montages
will be displayed around the classroom as reference resource material for
the rest of the class. Each group will make an oral presentation explaining
their montage to the class.
