For this activity students are not told until the day of the debate which role they will be taking. This means that all students will need to familiarize themselves with arguments from both sides of the issue. Role allocation can be done by the drawing of lots.
The Roles:
- Three speakers for the affirmative
- Three speakers for the negative
- Three adjudicators
- Affirmative team supporters whose role it is to pass notes containing ideas for rebuttal to affirmative speakers.
- Negative team supporters whose role it is to pass notes containing ideas for rebuttal to negative team speakers.
