TASKS:
Use these starter activities as students
journey to Tengboche.
Use the text of Focus 1 to complete these learning activities with the students
Goal: to get as fit as possible and to arrive at temporary base camp safely
- up hill/down dale
- climbing higher and higher
- crossing rivers on "terrifying rope bridges"
- Identify the physical and mental skills needed to be developed by the climbing team to be successful at meeting the challenges at the 3 points identified above.(independent or group work)
- rest time
- eating time
- action time
- Using the descriptions in the text to assist , bring the landscape and the people together in a sketch to show what a scene might have looked like at one of the 3 points identified above.
With 13 climbers, 800 porters and local Sherpa along the track to Tengbouche, there are many opportunities to show interaction with the people and the landscape!

- What skills and/or knowledge might be needed to be able to use it successfully in the conditions that might be found.
