Inquiry process: processing and communicating information

Social Studies concepts:

  • significance
  • achievement

After exploring the ideas in the final text of Focus 10, consider :

  • how you might try and replicate that sense of achievement experienced by Sir Edmund Hillary with each individual member of the class so that all individuals experience the feeling of success and recognition.
  • how the class might plan to celebrate their own achievements in learning and those of Sir Edmund Hillary and his team - how their knowledge base and skills can be built on and used across a range of areas.
  • the significance of what has been achieved
  • how each class member can be given an opportunity to learn and demonstrate his/her successes in some significant ways just as Sir Edmund Hillary was given the opportunity.
  • how their successes, new knowledge and skills might be shared with others in the school and in the community e.g. inviting in a group of local climbers to share information with.... from one expert to another!

Take a photo, shake hands, give a hug, celebrate your achievement, look forward to new challenges and enjoy your future successes in whatever places and environments that become significant to you!.
