TASKS:

This stage (see text 8) illustrates the extreme conditions of the place and the environment the team finds itself in.The key goals are to survive and achieve through hard work and determination in spite of the conditions.

Consider:

  • identifying the roles and responsibilities that team members had at this stage and in particular the roles that Sir Edmund Hillary took on.
  • the role of Tenzing as part of the team
  • the problems that arose, their causes and consequences
  • ensure that geographical terms are understood- crevasse, spur, plateau, col.
  • the dynamics of survival in extreme conditions.
