Processing and presenting information
This is a way to process information gathered and recorded
in the inquiry process about the events in his life.
Students could do this in groups on a large chart or a class time
line could be made with each group or pair contributing a part of it,
as the teacher scaffolds the process. It could then be stapled
horizontally or vertically on the wall.
Alternatively it could be presented on a computer application,
eg. PowerPoint or Kid Pix, with each pair/group of students
making a slide of an event. However it would be difficult to construct it
to scale, instead it would become a sequence of events
in a multimedia slide show. This could be presented at the final community
presentation along with other findings.
Record the events on a timeline.
Timelines are a way
of recording and presenting chronological information, written in order of
date.
Timelines are constructed to scale, (e.g. 5cm per 10 years) and will
highlight gaps in history, and cluster events that happen close in time.
A
timeline
self assessment could be used
as a formative assessment, encouraging students to monitor their
learning against the criteria providing feedback and
feed forward information during the learning process, or
as summative assessment when a group's timeline is completed.
