Draw a sketch map of
Tristan da
Cunha.
All maps need five things:
- a title
- a frame
- a key
- a compass
- a scale
- Sketch a circular shape with a 5.5cm radius in the middle of your paper.
Your scale is 1cm=1km.
- Mark the centre of the island with a symbol for a mountain (^).
Label the mountain Queen Mary's Peak [2060m].
- Draw in main streams/rivers radiating from the peak area to the coast.
Mark them evenly. Do not draw straight lines.
- Shade in the narrow plateau from the base of Queen Mary's Peak to the
coast. This is in a NNW direction from the peak.
- Mark an area 500m in from the coast, on the plateau. Label it Edinburgh.
- Put in your frame, compass, title, and key and scale.
