Either provide each student with a map (or have them trace an outline.)
Or if you can find one, have a large map of Cambodia or South-East Asia (or
Indo China) on display throughout the unit and locate and label the
different places as accurately as possible from the information provided.
Borany's Story follows the family as they evacuate Phnom Penh and move from
place to place, village to village, until they finally arrive at the village
in the province of Pursat (Pouthisat) where so many of Borany's family died.
As the unit progresses track the second stage of the family's journey from
the village in Pursat to Battambang (Batdambang) and on to Khao-i-Dang
refugee camp in Thailand.
The third stage takes them from Thailand to Porirua and requires a map of
the Asia-Pacific
region.
