What does cultural change mean for me?
- Choose one (or more) aspects of your life (eg. family, community,
beliefs) that you examined in your Culturegram.
- On your own, without talking to anyone else THINK about:
- How change in your culture might have affected, and be affecting, your
life;
- Some of the short and long term consequences of this change for you, eg.
what you may have lost or gained because of these changes;
- What you might like to change back;
- The impact of these changes on your identity;
- How these changes affect your relationships with older people in your
culture.
You have five minutes to think, and to record your ideas, thoughts and
feelings.
- Now, turn to your partner and in your PAIR compare ideas.
You have five minutes to discuss your thoughts, feelings and ideas and add
them to your list.
- Next, join another pair to form a small group and SHARE your combined
thoughts, feelings and ideas.
- Each group identifies three to four ideas about the effects of cultural
change on individuals like themselves that it wishes to present to the class
as a whole.
- Prepare a poster or board summary and present your findings to your
class.
