For Food answers could include:

Adapted (1950 - 2001):

  • Some people still have vegetable gardens but most buy from shops.
  • Recipes from TV, Internet, handed down, cook books.
  • Sunday roast available as a frozen dinner.
  • Growing your own vegetables and fruit organically is coming back in.

Same:

  • Fish 'n' chips still a favourite takeaway food.
  • Food still very important in our lives!

Changed:

  • Supermarkets killed off most corner dairies.
  • Service stations sell food, not just petrol.
  • Many more ethnic restaurants.
  • Many more ethnic foods available.
  • Microwave ovens replacing conventional ovens.
  • Most cakes, biscuits now bought not home baked.
  • 24 hour food places opened.
  • Fewer families eat together at the table.
