Choose one of the following environmental issues in Antarctica:
  • Ozone Depletion
  • Marine Life (Whales, seals, penguins)
  • Global Climate Change
  • Waste and rubbish

Below are some websites that may be useful in this activity:

Ozone Depletion
Earth Observatory: Images of Ozone Holes
Earth Observatory: About Ozone
British Antarctic Survey: The Ozone Hole

Marine Life (Whales, seals, penguins)
National Geographic: Penguin Decline in Antarctica Linked With Climate Change

Global Climate Change

Waste and rubbish

Task
Investigate the issue you have chosen, focusing on how it has impacted on Antarctica in the past, present and future.

Create a Tri Circle (page 64 in Top Tools). Each section of the circle has a question that you need to answer.
Past: how was this issue a problem in the past?
Present: how is this issue a problem in the present?
Future: What problems could occur in the future because of this issue? The implications on people and the environment (maybe global)

The circle needs to be A3 size, or you could use the outline shape of Antarctica
