OUTBREAK - Newspaper Reporting

Achievement Objectives:

  • Time, Continuity and Change 4.1
    Causes and effects of events that have shaped the lives of a group of people
  • Inquiry
    Collect, process and communicate information about human society.

Learning Outcomes:

Students will be able to:

  • Discuss the causes of the Influenza Epidemic
  • Describe the effects the Influenza epidemic had on people's daily lives
  • Collect and record information.

Criteria for Credit:

Students are able to:

  • Use Newspaper conventions in their presentation (date, title, headings, photos, advertisements)
  • Present an article on the outbreak of the Influenza epidemic, identifying at least two causes.
  • Present an article on the Influenza epidemic, identifying at least 3 effects on people's daily lives.
  • Include accurate information in their newspaper reports.

Criteria for Merit:

Students are able to:

  • Use Newspaper conventions in their presentation (date, title, headings, photos, advertisements)
  • Present an article on the outbreak of the Influenza epidemic, identifying a range of possible causes.
  • Present an article on the Influenza epidemic, identifying a range of effects on people's daily lives.
  • Include accurate information in their newspaper reports.
  • Present the information in an authentic manner.
