The purpose of this activity is to find out what makes Rome a significant
place for tourists to visit. You will also be gathering information that
will be used to create an interesting tourist mini guide aimed at informing
tourists about aspects of Rome.
NOTE: You will be assessed on your Mini Tourist guidebook and on your
evaluation of the inquiry.
Use the information from the mini-inquiry, and computer software such
as Microsoft Word, or Microsoft Publisher, to construct a tourist mini
guidebook that outlines
significant historic places in Rome.
- Establish a framework for inquiry based upon a set or sets of questions
relating to important places constructed by the Ancient Romans.
Possible Questions
- Work out a personal time management plan, that you will use to help
manage your time and complete all of your activities.
Time Management Plan
- Collect the information from a range (at least 4) of Internet sites
about
at least five significant places dating back to Ancient Rome.
Record your information in an appropriate
way, by downloading pages, saving to disc or printing selected pieces of
information.
You must also record the Internet sites that you obtained the information
from and hand these in with the completed work.
You may choose to go to the sites below where you will find a lot of
information about the ancient Romans, or go to one of the search engines
below.
- Communicate your findings by making tourist mini tourist guide aimed at
the Tourist market. You are to construct your mini guide using
software like Microsoft Publisher or on Microsoft Word.
Note: The mini guide must have:
- A range of visuals (at least 5 Historical Ancient Roman Sites
illustrated).
- An explanation of
who was responsible for having each of five significant places built; and
how and why each place was constructed.
- A brief explanation of why each place is significant for people today.
- Factual information which tourists might find interesting about each
historic Roman place.
- An accurate map of Rome
to show clearly the location of each significant place.
- A Bibliography listing sources of information including books and Internet
sites visited.
- Evaluation of the inquiry process
- Evaluate the inquiry process - explain which method of finding
information was the most efficient for you and outline why it was the most
efficient.
- Evaluate the quality of resources that you found and used. How accurate
or reliable was the information you found? Did any sites have a particular
bias, such as a religious bias or scientific bias?
