It is now 5 years later. The fence is completed. The predators have all been eradicated, except for a few mice that got back in because of a minor problem with the fence after the initial eradication. Thousands of trees have been planted. Several species of bird have been introduced and the kiwi and morepork can be heard calling in the evenings. The tui population has increased and is starting to overflow into neighbouring suburbs. Many of the pines have been felled and cleared. The trees in the bush are much healthier as opossums are no longer browsing them. New tracks are being developed. Membership has grown and the financial position is more secure. It has fewer pests than any other area of the New Zealand mainland. (Just those mice.)

Some of the people who expressed their opinions in the Points of view resources have changed their attitude to the Sanctuary. Choose two people whose point of view you think might have changed.

For each person:

  • Outline their revised points of view.
  • Suggest why their views have changed.
  • Suggest possible consequences of these revised points of view.
