Entrance to a lava cave
The entrance has been blocked off with a grill.
Human remains have been recorded near, and under, rocks at the entrance of
the cave. The cave was formed when the lava flow slowed and drained away,
leaving an outer rock skin forming an underground tube or pipe.
This material has been produced by UNITEC Institute of Technology
under contract to the Ministry of Education.
