Students draw a simple road (narrower at the top and wider at the bottom to
create an illusion of perspective) on a full page in their books, or on a
large sheet of paper if the activity is to be done in groups.
Each historic event will be represented by a signpost along the road. In
this example we do not have dates for most of the events. We can however
place them along the road in historical sequence, noting approximate dates
where we can.
The earliest events are at the top of the page, in the distance.
More recent events are at the foot of the page, as the road widens.
