Change Agents
Students should refer back to:
- the Bubble Map Changes in Tokelau
that they completed in Activity 1 when they were watching
Our Small World for the first time
- the Structured Overview or Bubble Map summarising
what has changed in Tokelau and what has stayed the same, from
Activity 5.
They will also need copies of, or online access to:
the:
They remain in the same groups that they worked in for Activity 6 (i.e. Hegalo, Puka, Tolise, Falima and Ioane).
Reasons for change in Tokelau
(a) Go back to the summaries of what has changed in Tokelau and what has stayed the same, from Activity 5.
(b) Each person takes two of the changes that have affected him/her and identifies reasons why each change has,
and still is, occurring. Some changes are the cause of other changes e.g. the increased consumption of palagi food has lead to an increase in health problems.
(Note: Group members should consult before launching into their analysis to ensure that they have a reasonable coverage of changes in Tokelauan culture and society. There may be some repetition and there may be some gaps - but not too many.)
(c) Each person organises his/her findings on to two Fishbone Diagrams -
one for each change.
(d) The group as a whole discusses their Fishbone Diagrams and summarises their overall
findings on to a Flow
Map.
