Students who have both special abilities and disabilities are often recognised only for their disabling condition. This article discusses the barriers faced by gifted students with disabilities and suggests ways to minimise the effects of a disabling condition – interventions tend to focus solely on the disability to the detriment of a student's special gifts. Provides a general overview of gifted students with disabilities and also covers some specific areas of disability such as Asperger's Syndrome. [Full record]
