Transition - Journeys into work and lifelong learning

Transition for...

Families, whānau, and caregivers

Transition is the seamless movement of students from school or tertiary education into the world of work, training, or other activities. This will mean different things for different people.

For families, whānau, and caregivers, it means supporting a young person to make informed decisions about their future.

You will be a key person to assist them in researching their options and making links with appropriate services and support agencies.

It will also be important to encourage them to start thinking about transition at least two years before they leave school. Ideally the process should begin for them in some way at the age of 14 years.
