What did you want to be when you were young?

A Go-Go dancer and then an actress, then a broadcaster. I've achieved most of that, except I am a pretty awful dancer!

Who are your inspirational role models?

My kuia for her commitment and energy to whānau; Hirini Melbourne for his commitment and energy to Māori music; and my daughter Hineraukatauri for her commitment and energy to life.

· food?

Paua.

Kaumatua 40s music - seriously!

My whānau

The Piano

· TV programme?

Anything that requires as little participation as possible – the ultimate couch potato.

· pastime?

Being with whānau.

What would be your ideal day?

Being with whānau somewhere warm and fun.

What is the grossest thing in your fridge?

The cheese is seriously dodgy!

What is your most embarrassing moment?

I'm totally flakey at times. I'd rather be in denial about my MOST embarrassing moment!

What are your ambitions for the future?

To take Māori music to the world stage.

What sparked your interest in following your particular career path?

My love for singing and especially kapa haka performance.
