Keeping hand held electrical equipment in a safe and useable condition remains
an on-going problem for all teachers of technology. In the pre-service teacher
training programme at Massey University College of Education in Palmerston North
, senior technology lecturer Gary O'Sullivan, has developed a neat solution
to the problem for glue guns and soldering irons.
Gary explains,
"What we've tried to avoid is the soldering irons burning through the cable
and the glue guns getting covered with gunk and gluing everything up."
The stands have been designed to keep the equipment away from the waste material
and allow the power cables to be wrapped out of the way while the equipment
is cooling down - simple, easily constructed, and effective!
