The wickED topics are integrated units with activities from several curriculum areas and involve a range of thinking and learning skills. Below is an outline of where the activities for the current topic fit in the curriculum.

Social studies
Strand: Time, Continuity, and Change
Achievement aims:
From their study of Time, Continuity, and Change students will understand:
- relationships between people and events through time; and
- interpretations of these relationships.
Level: 1–4: Achievement objectives and indicators
Students will demonstrate knowledge and understandings of:
- ways in which time and change affect people
- important events in their own lives
- how past events changed aspects of their lives
- how and why people work together to obtain communities
- how and why the past is important to people
- how the ideas and actions of people in the past changed the lives of others
- how the past is recorded and remembered in different ways
- causes and effects of events that have shaped the lives of a group of people
- how and why people experience events in different ways.

Strand: Understanding the Visual Arts in Context
Level: 1–4
Achievement objective: Students will investigate the purposes of objects and images in past and present cultures and identify contexts in which they were or are made, viewed, and valued.
Strand: Developing Practical Knowledge in the Visual Arts
Level: 2-3
Achievement objective: Students will apply knowledge of elements and principles to make objects and images and explore art-making conventions, using a variety of techniques, tools, materials, processes, and procedures.
Strand: Developing Ideas in the Visual Arts
Level: 2-3
Achievement objective: Students will develop visual ideas in response to a variety of motivations, using imagination, observation, and invention with materials.

Within a range of meaningful contexts, students should be able to:
- write and solve story problems which involve whole numbers, using addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division.
Strand: Measurement
Level: 2-3
Achievement objective: Estimating and measuring
Within a range of meaningful contexts, students should be able to:
- demonstrate knowledge of the basic units of length, mass, area, volume (capacity), and temperature by making reasonable estimates
- perform measuring tasks, using a range of units and scales.
