Photo Frenzy
Wiki has traveled to Manchester for the Commonwealth Games. Create a photo album about her trip.

  1. Ask your email pals from Manchester to collect 6 photos of important places or objects from around their city.
  2. Create a PowerPoint presentation of the photos, approximately 6 slides.
  3. Tell us why each place is important by writing a caption underneath each photograph.
  4. Send your PowerPoint to your email pal, and to Ed (ed1@tki.org.nz).

Intergalactic Games
Wiki's home planet is hosting their very first Intergalactic Games. Wiki has been asked to design a motto and a games symbol. Can you help her out by showing her your ideas?

  1. Use a paint program to create your symbol. See if you can use symmetry in your design. Use the Mathematics Dictionary for Kids to help you.
  2. Have a look at the Manchester Commonwealth Games website for ideas for a motto. Remember a motto is usually one to two sentences long.
  3. Use Microsoft Word or Publisher to present your motto and symbol to Wiki.
  4. Send your work to Wiki (wiki@tki.org.nz).

Medal Mania
Create a graph to compare the medal count for the top five countries taking part in the Manchester Commonwealth Games.

  1. Search the online newspapers from the Report It area of the Information Station to find and gather data for your medal table.
  2. Create a bar graph in RM Starting Graph or Microsoft Excel that compares the medal count for the top five countries.
  3. Save it, and then email your graph to Ed (ed1@tki.org.nz).

Write an article about an important event in the current Commonwealth Games.

  1. READ and LISTEN to a story about an event, competition or competitor using the CBBC Newsround website.
  2. Using the following headings, write a short report using Microsoft Publisher or Microsoft Word (5-10 sentences). Include an illustration you have drawn in paint.
    • Who?
    • What?
    • Why?
    • When?
    • Where?
  3. Send your report to Ed (ed1@tki.org.nz).

Who knows it could end up in the wickED Commonwealth Games Pānui!
