Concentration commentary
A commentator is an expert who tells the spectators watching a game exactly what is going on. They have to know things like the players’ names and important facts about them and any special words, equipment, and positions used in that sport.
- Listen to this rugby commentary.
- Play this game of concentration for a rugby commentary.
- Open up a Word document and write down three sentences a commentator might say during a rugby game.
Email your rugby commentary to ed@tki.org.nz

Poetry in motion
Ed, Wiki, and Tipani are having trouble choosing which sport they love the most. You can help them by writing three acrostic poems about different sports you enjoy watching or playing.
- Follow the easy instructions on this ‘Acrostic Poems’ website to see how clever you are at writing poems about your favourite sports.
Email your poems to ed@tki.org.nz

Fair play
Ed knows that people play games to participate and enjoy the game. Fair play means respecting the rules and the other players and helps everyone to enjoy the game.
- Look at this website to find out some more about fair play.
- Design a certificate for fair play using the ‘draw tools’ (Word 20KB) on your computer. Your certificate must list three points from the website that show fair play.
Email your certificate to to ed@tki.org.nz

Kicking kings
You are the rugby coach of an international team and have to choose a top goal kicker to help your team win.
- Read how to play instructions.
- Open up a Word document and make a list of four important things you have to think about before you kick a goal.
- Play the kicking king game.
- Add the name of your chosen kicker and your score to your Word document.
Email your Word document to ed@tki.org.nz

Out of bounds
Every sport has a different field or court size to play the game within. It is important to know the boundaries of your playing position so you don’t break the rules.
- Open up the ‘Out of bounds — netball, basketball, soccer, rugby’ document (Word 27KB) and read the measurements for netball and basketball courts, and for rugby and soccer fields.
- Choose one type of sports field or court to draw on the Word document.
-
Use the ‘draw tools’ (Word 20KB) on your computer to draw straight and curved lines. Draw the field or court to scale (1cm = 1m).
- If a player on your court or field ran up and down the court eight times and then twice from side to side, how far would they have run in kilometres?
Email your drawing and answers to ed@tki.org.nz

Sporty words
On Saturday morning Ed, Wiki, and Tipani listen to the sports cancellations on the radio to see if their game is still on or not. Ed was confused by the word ‘postponed’ when he heard his game had been postponed. Ed has made a Word document of Sporty words. You can help Ed by matching the pairs of sporty words in this Word document.
- Open the Sporty words document (Word 25KB) and match the pairs of words you think may go together.
Email your completed word document to ed@tki.org.nz
