TIME TRAVEL

Wiki and Ed stumbled upon a time machine while exploring Ed's attic. Ed pushed the large, red G0 button and with a whoosh! they were away, back to the Jurassic period.

  1. Find out about the Jurassic period. Use the BBC Science & Nature – Prehistoric Life website for help.
  2. Using a paint program, draw pictures of the following objects:
    • a flying animal
    • a plant
    • a terrestrial (land dwelling) animal
  3. Send your pictures to ed@tki.org.nz

TIME CAPSULE

Tipani has discovered a time capsule in her back yard. The writing on it reads 2700 BC. She can make out three of the letters belonging to the name inscribed on the capsule: C, A, and O. What country did the time capsule originally come from?

  1. Download Tipani's picture of the time capsule. This will supply you with clues you will need in your search.
  2. Use a search engine and the Information Station to solve the mystery.

CHASED BY A DINOSAUR

When Wiki used her time machine to check out the dinosaurs she didn't realise she'd be on the menu that day. She was chased by three different dinosaurs. Find out which dinosaurs were chasing Wiki by exploring this dinosaur website.

  1. Dinosaur number 1, starts with the letter E. It lived in the Jurassic period, was an omnivore (meat eater), was 7-9m long, and was named by Alick Walker.
  2. Dinosaur number 2, starts with the letter P. It was a herbivore (a plant eater). It was 40 foot long and weighed about two tons. It was named by William A. Parks in 1922.
  3. 3. Dinosaur number three, starts with the letter T. Its name means "tyrant lizard king". It was named by Henry Fairfield Osborn in 1905 and weighed about 5-7 tons.
