Te Kete Ipurangi – The Online Learning Centre – is a bilingual gateway to educational resources on the Internet for New Zealand teachers and the education community. It is an initiative of the Ministry of Education. You can choose to view the site in either English or te reo Māori.
You'll find websites and resources that have been reviewed or written by New Zealand educators with your needs in mind. Come in and browse. For the history of TKI, read our About pages.
For help in finding your way round the site, read below. Other help topics are listed on the right-hand side navigation bar.
What's in TKI?
Curriculum-related materials for teaching and learning are indexed and catalogued on TKI. The main navigation pages are described below.
Home is the main navigation page which links to all areas of the site and provides the latest news. It also highlights the TKI communities, What's New, and Hot Topics. It includes a list of links to On TKI features. More about home.
Search is the key to finding specific materials on TKI. You can search the resources and websites in Te Kete Ipurangi by subject area, and resource type and level, using keywords and strands linked to the New Zealand curriculum. More about search.
Communities are the best way to discover TKI if you want to browse through what's available in a subject area. TKI has a community kete for each of the seven essential learning areas, Māori education, and a number of Ministry initiatives. Choose a community to catch up on news, events and to find curriculum-based learning materials. More about communities.
Schools provides a list of all New Zealand schools and their email, website, and physical addresses, as well as phone and fax numbers. You can search for a school by name, type, or region.
Interact is where you can sign up for the TKI newsletter, leave a question or message on the messageboard for other visitors to read and respond to, review a website on TKI, or suggest a website for addition to TKI.
News has the latest education news and features on TKI and provides links to New Zealand education news and sources from around the world.
About tells you about TKI, the people involved, what it aims to achieve, and how Internet resources are evaluated and made more accessible.

How do I use TKI?
If you are looking for something specific, you'll get the most out of TKI by using the search page. By using TKI search you will find curriculum-related materials that have been catalogued and assessed by the TKI team of professionals.
The information in TKI is also collected into communities which cover the seven essential learning areas, governing and managing New Zealand schools, and Ministry of Education initiatives. Visiting a community is bit like browsing through your school resource cupboard. The material relevant to your area of interest is collected in one place. You may not be sure what it is that you want to find so you look on the shelves to see what is there. Under the large arrow on the right-hand column of the community there are links (curriculum and assessment, and pedagogy and professional support) that help you see how the shelves are named.
