Earth, Sea and Sky – Te Ara: The Encyclopedia of New Zealand
Check out this new section of Te Ara: The Encyclopedia of New Zealand. It is a gateway to further information about New Zealand's astronomy, geology, marine environments, ocean study and conservation, birds of sea and shore, harvesting the sea, mineral resources, recreation – sea and sky, climate and atmosphere, hot springs and geothermal energy, natural hazards and disasters, sea and air transport. Each section is further divided into subsections which have an image and media trail, image and media gallery, biographies gallery, and further sources. Planning for Content and Language Learning Across the Curriculum – Primary and Secondary Schools

Annual Monitoring of Reading Recovery: the Data for 2004 (PDF 1.1MB)
Read the latest report on the continuing evaluation of the implementation of Reading Recovery. Schools with Reading Recovery are asked to provide information for the Ministry of Education on an annual basis. This information is used to examine trends in the delivery of Reading Recovery and the progress of students, and to assist the Ministry in developing policies regarding literacy. Northland school students world – class problem solvers
Find out the processes behind Kerikeri High School's success, as it took top honours in both the senior and intermediate categories of an international problem-solving competition. CANZ: Learning Power – Resource CD
Don't miss your copy of the 'CANZ Resource CD' – the Computer Access NZ Trust (CANZ) has published its eighth edition. The CD contains 168 separate computer programs; and is the most comprehensive collection available of free educational software, ranging from small and simple to large and sophisticated. It is also a useful source of up-to-date versions of a wide variety of communications and utility programs. Look for upgraded versions of software as well as new. One copy of the CD for all schools will accompany the 22 May edition of the New Zealand Education Gazette.

Solid Waste Management

From 1 October 2006 under the National Environmental Standards for Air Quality schools will need a resource consent to continue to use incinerators to burn waste.
