'Get Firewise' resources

The New Zealand Fire Service offers a range of fire-safety education resources for early childhood, kōhanga reo, primary, and year 7 and 8 students.

The education resources are designed to be delivered by teachers and kaiako. They can be supported by firefighters with a school visit and fire-safety presentation.

Resources are free to schools and can be ordered using the form on this page.

A NZ Fire Services poster [PDF] has five steps schools can take to help minimise the risk of arson. It can be downloaded from the NZ Fire Services website.

What’s the Plan, Stan?

The Ministry of Civil Defence & Emergency Management has relaunched What’s the Plan Stan?, a guide for teaching emergency preparedness in primary classrooms. 

The resource explores six impacts students may face in an emergency event and how they can prepare for an emergency situation.
