New Zealand Sign Language Week 6–12 May 2019

NZSL Week raises awareness of New Zealand’s Deaf community and provides a platform for Deaf people to proudly promote their language and culture.

This page from NZ Curriculum Online links to opportunities, activities, and resources to support schools and communities to learn about New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL).

This year’s NZSL Week theme is ‘My Language, My Place’.

Bullying Free NZ Week 13–17 May 2019

Bullying Free NZ Week provides an opportunity to raise awareness of bullying behaviour and promote what schools are doing to become bullying free.

This page from NZ Curriculum Online includes resources, ideas, and stories to help students, staff, parents, whānau, trustees, and communities work together to create a positive school culture and prevent bullying behaviour.

This year’s theme is ‘Whakanuia Tōu Āhua Ake! Celebrating Being Us!’ which encourages students to celebrate what makes them unique – such as talents, interests, appearance, disability, culture, race, gender, or sexuality – and encourages schools to build environments where everyone is welcome, safe, and free from bullying.
