Alan G. Romano, 77

Dengan perasaan sedih yang mendalam kami mengumumkan kepergian Al Romano pada usia 78 tahun pada tanggal 20 Juli 2023 setelah berjuang dengan berani melawan penyakit Alzheimer dan penyakit singkat. Al dikelilingi oleh istri tercintanya Nancy, putranya Chadwick, dan menantu perempuannya Heather saat ia memasuki kehidupan kekal bersama Tuhan. Al tidak pernah menyerah di atas ring maupun dalam perjuangannya untuk hidup.

Kebanggaan Berkshires lahir di Adams, Massachusetts pada tanggal 13 Mei 1946 dari pasangan Joseph dan Marie (Simon) Romano. Al adalah seorang pemancing yang rajin dan penggemar seumur hidup Atlanta Braves, terutama Greg Maddux. Al memiliki karier tinju yang panjang dan sangat sukses dan terpilih menjadi anggota Berkshire County Boxing Hall of Fame pada tahun 2017. Al menduduki peringkat ke-26 dalam daftar Eagles top 50. Al juga merupakan Juara Kelas Welter Amerika Utara sebelum Sugar Ray Leonard mengambil alih gelar tersebut. Al bertugas sebagai Polisi North Adams selama bertahun-tahun sebelum pensiun karena cedera yang ia alami saat bertugas.

Beberapa kenangan terindah Al adalah saat-saat yang ia habiskan untuk memancing di Sungai Salmon bersama sahabat dan mantan rekannya di kepolisian, Bill Davis. Al sering terlihat menikmati salah satu cerutu favoritnya.

Al meninggalkan istri dan pasangan hidupnya selama 55 tahun, Nancy; putranya Alan Romano dan istri Gill dari Lenoxdale; putranya Daniel Romano; dan putranya Chadwick Walker dan istrinya Heather dari North Adams. Al juga meninggalkan empat cucunya: Zachary dari Hartford, Connecticut; Brent dari Bennington, Vermont; Colin dari Statesboro, Georgia; dan Reagan yang tercinta dari North Adams. Al juga meninggalkan saudara perempuannya Maureen Montague dari North Carolina. Al telah didahului oleh saudara laki-lakinya Doug dan keponakannya Tanya. Al juga meninggalkan dua sahabatnya, Bill Davis dan Freddy Thompson.

Al pasti akan sangat dirindukan oleh banyak orang. Perayaan kehidupan untuk Al akan diadakan di 107 Beaver Street, North Adams pada tanggal 6 Agustus pukul 1 siang hingga 5 sore. To all members of Al's family, my mother (Nancy Walsh) told me about Al's passing. I was extremely saddened to hear this news. I remember Al, because he and my father, Franny Walsh were friends for years. And one thing I will never, ever forget was the beautiful eulogy he gave for my father when he passed away in 1999. It was such a wonderful tribute to my dad and later was printed in the paper under letters to the editor, a friend remembers Fran Walsh. His words said everything he thought and felt about my dad, and they were moving, sincere and loving. So I would like to say now to Al's family, what a wonderful human being he was also. May you find comfort and peace in this difficult time. And lastly, I'd like to think my father and Al are together again

Nancy and Family, It was saddening to learn of Al's passing recently. It has been quite some time since speaking with Al, but each time happening, it was enjoyable to recount history. Al was a "man's man, " and always helpful and respectful! Another one of the good guy's leaving too early.
